DRAMS Webinar | Beyond the Angel’s Share
Factors influencing operational and maturation loss and how to control them
Date: Thursday 3rd December 2026
Time: 16:15 – 17:00 GMT (11:15 – 12:00 ET)

A filling lance isn’t seated properly and 20 litres of spirit spills onto the warehouse floor. The cask is still filled to the top, but the meter records everything that went through it and the cask record shows more spirit than the cask can hold. No one will spot the difference until the cask is dumped years later. At that point, it gets reported as a maturation loss.
Operational losses are hidden inside maturation figures across the industry. The challenge for producers is to understand where losses occur, what’s driving them, what’s acceptable and how to report these findings accurately.
And while spirit producers face increased pressure to maximise a return from their inventory, how they manage losses is under even more intense scrutiny.
Join DRAMS Product Manager, Hayley McMinn, as we explore how producers can improve their understanding, visibility and reporting of operational and maturation loss during our industry webinar.
During the webinar we’ll cover:
- The four types of loss and examples from industry
- Understanding maturation in different environments
- Recording losses accurately: why spreadsheets and general ERPs struggle
- Comparing expected with actual maturation loss, and what good looks like
- Reporting loss and compliance assurance in the UK and US
