Drambond Partner with DRAMS to Build a Scalable, Compliant Bonded Warehousing Business
Founded in 2024, Drambond is a third-party cask maturation specialist serving the whisky industry. Based in Arbroath, Scotland, Drambond operates six bonded warehouses with capacity to store between 50,000 and 55,000 casks.
As a newly established bonded warehouse operating in a regulated environment, Drambond knew the importance of getting the right processes in place from the outset.
For Founder and Commercial Director, Terry Bleeks, that meant implementing an effective inventory management system before the first casks arrived onsite.
“When we started out on our journey to open a bonded warehouse, we were aware of the challenges and obligations as a business for tracking barrels, managing warehouse space and adhering to HMRC regulations. So, we were conscious of putting the right systems in place to allow us to report properly from day one”, explained Terry.
Selecting a system that signals credibility
Drambond chose DRAMS as their trusted technology partner for inventory management. DRAMS was selected, not just for its functionality, but also for its credibility with the mature spirit industry.
Terry explained: “we were aware of the customer base at DRAMS and wanted to be able to attract our business to them, so having DRAMS in place would help give us that credibility”.
Seamless Sychronisation
Because DRAMS is widely used throughout the mature spirit industry, sharing inventory data between Drambond and their existing customer systems was straightforward.
“The good thing about joining DRAMS was we were able to link in with other DRAMS customers” said Terry. “So, syncing the information coming from their system into our system has been fairly seamless.”

This alignment allows Drambond to receive stock data in compatible formats from their customers, which streamlines process and avoids delays when receiving new casks onsite.
“Stock comes into the warehouse and we receive the data of that stock in a certain format that can be easily translated into our DRAMS system” Terry explained.
Traceability and Reporting
As a bonded warehouse, Drambond must not just offer safe storage, but provide accurate inventory reporting and traceability for customers and to satisfy HMRC regulations.

“The big thing for us was knowing exactly where each and every cask was, so that if customers ever did want samples, or have to pull stock out, we know exactly where it’s at” said Terry.
“DRAMS has allowed us to pinpoint exactly where each and every cask is with precision.”
“At the same time, the traceability and reporting aspect of DRAMS has allowed us to record audit trails and quickly generate the required documentation for HMRC”.
This level of inventory management reporting helps Drambond respond quickly and accurately to customer requests, whilst maintaining fully compliant operations.
Positioned for long-term growth
For Drambond, implementing DRAMS was not only about meeting current requirements—it was an investment in future-proofing the business as operations expand.
“The plan for the business is to grow with additional facilities throughout Scotland,” said Terry. “There is that scalability aspect of using DRAMS, and that was something that we wanted to bear in mind when putting the system in place.”
“So, as we continue to grow, we’ll grow with DRAMS and get the additional benefits of the functionality across multiple sites in years to come.”
