Maintaining Efficient Operations at Scale
India is emerging as a global force in premium spirits, with Radico Khaitan leading the way. Known for its internationally distributed whisky brands, Radico is expanding rapidly. Already managing over 40,000 casks across three sites – Rampur, Sitapur, and Timmapur – the company is now scaling its maturing inventory to 60,000 casks with the construction of a new facility.
Traditionally, warehouse operations relied on handwritten labels and spreadsheets, with stock data manually entered into SAP ERP. As volumes increased, these processes became a bottleneck – slowing down operations, increasing the risk of error, and making it harder to maintain quality and efficiency at scale.
To support their growth ambitions, Radico needed a purpose-built and scalable system for managing mature spirit inventory across multiple locations – one that would increase productivity, improve accuracy, and provide the data needed to align operations with strategic goals.
Combined Expertise
Radico formed a project team led by Executive Vice President of Blending, Anup Barik, to find a long-term technology partner – not just a software vendor. From the outset, the team ruled out generic ERP systems in favour of software designed specifically for managing maturing spirits.
Scotland has long been recognised as the global benchmark for premium whisky production and operational excellence. DRAMS’ strong track record in the Scotch industry – backed by decades of deep domain expertise – was a decisive factor in Radico’s choice.
“DRAMS has a track record stretching back over fifty years in the Scotch industry, and Radico were pioneers in Indian-made foreign liquor. This combined expertise offered huge potential for shared knowledge and success,” explained Anup.
“Their understanding of our needs was clear from the start. DRAMS consultants picked up our processes quickly and showed us how the system could support our growth.”
A Single Source of Truth

Radico deployed the core DRAMS solution across its Rampur, Sitapur, and Timmapur sites to create a single source of truth for all cask inventory.
Implementation was supported onsite by DRAMS consultants, who worked closely with warehouse and production teams to ensure a smooth transition.
“The Radico team was incredibly engaged,” said DRAMS Consultant Ashley Graham. “They asked insightful questions and collaborated closely. That made the implementation not just efficient, but genuinely enjoyable.”
All key processes – spirit filling, inter-site transfers, vat management, dispatch – are now managed through DRAMS. Custom configurations were added to reflect unique operational needs, such as local climate effects on maturation losses.

Radico also introduced DRAMS SCAN and DRAMS PRINT, equipping warehouse staff with handheld scanners and electronic picking lists to speed up cask retrieval, eliminate manual data errors, and enhance traceability.
“Replacing handwritten labels with barcode scanning transformed how we work. It’s a single step that improves accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and real-time visibility,” said Anup.
“DRAMS Print ensures labels are consistent and contain all the necessary regulatory information so we can meet excise obligations more efficiently.”
Scaling with Confidence
Radico now operates with a fully integrated, scalable system purpose-built for maturing spirit inventory. As the first spirits producer in India to implement DRAMS, they’ve laid a strong operational foundation for future growth.
“DRAMS gives us the confidence to scale,” Anup concluded. “We’ve streamlined operations, improved accuracy, and strengthened our ability to meet growing demand. We’re proud to be the first whisky producer in India to implement DRAMS – and we’re just getting started. We look forward to building the relationship together.”
